Sound. Safe. Tough.
Vortex Doors of Tampa provides critical protection during an emergency. Our fire doors provide a safe escape route for visitors and staff, while containing the blaze until firefighters arrive. Built to withstand high temperatures and open flames, their durability helps save lives, protect property, and ensure legal compliance – both for your safety and peace of mind.
Fire-Rated Door Options
During an emergency, every second counts. Our fire-rated doors provide a first line of defense. Their resilient design and fire-resistant materials slow the spread of smoke and flames, giving employees time to exit while simultaneously limiting damage to your facility.
Vortex Doors of Tampa offers a wide range of interior and exterior doors with heat-resistant components, capable of enduring high temperatures and extreme conditions. Working with some of the leading manufacturers in the United States, we deliver robust solutions for both large and small businesses.
Rolling Steel Fire Doors
Rolling steel fire doors maximize usable floor space while acting as a strong barrier to smoke and flames. Their heavy-gauge steel slats withstand temperatures better than any other material. Capable of enduring excessive heat for up to 180 minutes, they mitigate harm while simultaneously protecting occupants and first responders. Their robust construction enables them to withstand wear, physical impact, and harsh environments – making them an excellent choice for long-term security and reliability.

Sliding Steel Fire Doors
Sliding steel fire doors contain flames and smoke by sealing off sections of your building during an emergency. Unlike rolling doors, which coil upward, sliding doors move sideways along a track. Made from heavy steel panels, they can withstand extreme temperatures for up to three hours, slowing the spread of fire and smoke. Ideal for large or irregular openings that aren’t well suited to rolling or swinging doors, they protect escape routes in low clearance areas such as hallways, cross-corridors, and mechanical rooms.
Solid Core Doors
Solid core fire doors contain dense, non-hollow centers capable of resisting fire, smoke, and heat for up to 90 minutes, giving occupants and visitors more time to evacuate in a safe and orderly manner. Depending on their intended location, cores may be made from steel, mineral, gypsum, or particle board. This variety of material provides flexibility, allowing you to protect vulnerable areas at a reasonable cost. Their solid construction enables them to withstand everyday wear and tear, making them a popular pick for high-traffic areas.

Double Doors
In addition to single doors, we also offer a broad range of double leaf fire doors capable of resisting smoke and flames for up to 90 minutes or more. Often installed in high-occupancy buildings, such as schools, hotels, hospitals, and retail centers, their wide design allows them to accommodate large groups of people, reducing bottlenecks during an emergency. Suitable for both commercial and industrial applications, they protect your facility while providing better access for firefighters and other first responders.
Fire Door Hardware
- Glass Windows: Besides allowing natural light into your building, fire-rated glazing provides a clear look at the fire’s progress, to help staff and firefighters make informed decisions during a crisis.
- Panic Hardware: Because they operate with a simple push, panic bars allow people to operate fire doors with one simple movement, allowing them to leave in a quick and orderly manner.
- Intumescent Seals: Made from heat sensitive materials such as sodium silicate, graphite, or ammonium phosphate, these strips expand when exposed to high temperatures, closing gaps between rooms, hallways, and stairwells.
- Self-Closing Mechanisms: Also known as fire closers, these devices include hydraulic arms that automatically shut the door after it’s been opened, to help contain smoke and flames.
- Positive Latching: Secures the door automatically when it closes, ensuring it’s not forced open as a result of positive pressure created by the expansion of heated air.
